Preliminary visual inspection for visible water or oil leaks, low system pressure, oil smells and ask homeowner if experiencing any problems e.g. intermittent lock-outs, poor hot water performance or system pressure loss
Strip and clean heat exchanger(s), clean combustion chamber
Check Combustion chamber access door, insulation board and seals
Check and clean baffles
Clean burner combustion head, check electrodes and photocell
Replace nozzle and flexible fuel lines, date tag replacement flexible oil lines
Check flue system is intact, clean and unobstructed and flue terminal guard
Check combustion ventilation air supply
Check and replace burner seal if required
Check fuel flow, clean and replace fuel filters as necessary
Clean condensate discharge trap and check condensate discharge system
Check operation of Pressure Relief Valve
Check and re-pressurise expansion vessel as necessary
Inspect oil supply system
Check fire safety valve is fitted and check operation
Check for earth bonding to incoming oil line and fuse rating to boiler
Inspect oil tank, check for contamination, condition and support/base
Re-assemble and set up for clean and correct combustion to manufacturers specification
Check burner safety lock out function and appliance safety controls
Check boiler timer and controls
Clean magnetic system filter and set system pressure
Check boiler for correct operation of domestic hot water and central heating functions
Check for and test carbon monoxide alarm
Produce completed oil fired heating service report with combustion printout
